After a long, cold winter for all, local soccer players are ready to gun for glory as the Weston Adult Soccer League gears up for a new season. Rising and graduating seniors are joining for the first time, seeing if they can crack it with the older men and women. Redding C.C. members raise $4,000 for First Tee

On Saturday, May 26, before the sun peeked over the horizon, eight hearty souls with 35 pounds of “sticks” on their backs embarked on a 22.5-mile journey through the rolling hills of Redding. Their mission: to raise money for the First Tee, a national charitable organization whose mission is to impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. Just shy of two years ago, Weston Parks and Recreation brought in a new program director to supplant a position that had been heralded for more than 40 years by Bill Schaeffer. Joe Parciasepe’s goal had always been to revamp the department’s summer camps. Play Ball for All clinic on Saturday

Weston’s Play Ball For All will host its next free youth fun and fundamentals baseball clinic on Saturday, June 16, at Morehouse Field in Weston. The clinic will host more than 40 young program participants, ages 8-13, from the Child Guidance Center of Mid-Fairfield County, based in Norwalk. This three-hour clinic will be followed by a picnic for the group. The Play Ball For All mission is to bring the game of baseball to underserved youth from surrounding communities. Spirits stay high at Special Olympics time trials, despite the rain

The rain may have forced several events to be cancelled, but it hardly dampened spirits at the Special Olympics Connecticut 2018 Southern Time Trials on Saturday at Weston High School. Athletes who have been training hard for months weren’t about to let the weather get in their way. “That’s the beautiful thing. All the athletes are so dedicated and resilient, and just so excited to be together. Special Olympics Southern Time Trials Saturday at Weston High

Special Olympics Connecticut will hold its 2018 Southern Time Trials presented by GE at Weston High School this Saturday, May 12, from 8:30 to 4. The event is free and all are invited to come out and cheer on the athletes. This annual event gives athletes of all abilities from the region opportunities to compete in track and field, swimming and tennis after months of training and preparation. More than 1,000 athletes and Unified Sports® partners are expected to participate. An additional 200 coaches and 600 volunteers are expected to support the event.
