Weston selectmen vote to send fracking waste ban to counsel

The Weston town, education and capital budgets were passed at a referendum vote.

Weston’s Board of Selectmen voted 2-to-1 to send an ordinance prohibiting waste associated with natural gas and oil extraction, a process known as fracking, to town counsel.  First Selectman Chris Spaulding and Selectman Brian Gordon voted to move forward with send  the ordinance to counsel while Selectman Stephan Grozinger voted against it. Town counsel will then review the ordinance and eventually there will be a town vote on whether to prohibit waste associated with fracking. Former Weston youth services director named to Children and Youth Commission

Weston’s former youth services director Michelle Albright was unanimously named to the Children and Youth Commission at the Board of Selectmen meeting on Thursday, Feb. 1. A clinical psychologist and Weston resident, Albright has worked for the town from 2012 until Sept. 2016. As director of youth services she acted as a liaison between the schools and the town social worker. Fracking waste meetings in Redding, Weston

A Special Town Meeting in Redding in regard to the vote on a fracking waste ban scheduled for Monday, Jan. 8, was canceled due to weather and a fire detection problem at Redding Town Hall.
