Following three one-sided victories, the Joel Barlow girls lacrosse team encountered its first mini-crisis on Thursday: At halftime, the Falcons found themselves trailing host Masuk, 5-3. Barlow’s response? A dominating second half. By outscoring Masuk, 7-1, in the final 25 minutes, the Falcons came away with a 10-6 triumph in an early season meeting of unbeaten teams. Murphy calls for investigation into Eversource’s high shutoff rate

After an investigation by WTNH News 8 revealed that the rate at which Eversource – New England’s largest energy provider – has disconnected customers from electricity for nonpayment has nearly doubled in the last two years, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy called on the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) to examine Eversource’s actions. In a letter addressed to Kate S. Dykes, Chair of PURA, Murphy expressed concern that Eversource may not being doing enough outreach to their low-income customers. Weston’s Lachat Town Farm receives Connecticut Preservation award

The Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation has given Lachat Town Farm in Weston a Connecticut Preservation Award for 2018. The award recognizes outstanding preservation projects and people who have made significant contributions to the preservation of Connecticut’s historic buildings and places. An award ceremony for Lachat Town Farm and other award recipients was held on Thursday, April 5, at Edmond Town Hall in Newtown. Volunteers needed to tag horseshoe crabs

One of nature’s oldest annual – but G-rated – mating rituals is about to occur again on the beaches of Connecticut, and The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk needs help documenting it. During the new and full moons each spring, horseshoe crabs come up out of Long Island Sound to spawn in the sand. Easton cable channel videographer is on the job

Robert L. Webbe goes to more public meetings than just about anyone in Easton, but few people outside those meetings would probably recognize him. Baseball: Immaculate rallies late to nip Trojans

Immaculate broke a 2-2 tie with two runs in the bottom of the sixth to send the Weston High baseball team to a 4-2 loss on Wednesday in Danbury. The Trojans dropped to 2-3 on the season while the Mustangs improved to 3-1.
