Police Log for Redding and Weston: Fraud, ID theft, one-car rollover

Redding

Criminal arrest
Rebecca Sarich, 29, of Old Stage Coach Road, turned herself in at the police department on Monday, Sept. 24, for a violation of probation charge. This violation occurred on Aug. 28. She was processed at the police department and then released on a written promise to appear.  

Fraud/identity theft
On Wednesday, Sept. 26, a Wagon Wheel Road resident reported that he was a victim of identity theft. He said that  credit cards in his name were shipped by UPS to a location in Queens, N.Y., without his permission. This is under investigation.

On Thursday, Sept. 27, a North Park Avenue resident reported that her son got scammed while using Letgo.com. No other information was available at the time of this release. This is under investigation.

On Thursday, Sept. 27, a Picketts Ridge Road resident reported that someone opened up a Sprint account in her name. This is under investigation.

On Friday, Sept. 28, a Winding Brook Court resident came to the police department to report that someone opened up accounts in her name with Target and American Express. This is under investigation.

Weston

Rollover accident
On Sunday, Sept. 23, shortly before 4 p.m., Weston police responded to a call about a one-car rollover accident in the area of 89 Ladder Hill Road North. When police arrived on the scene, they found a black Volvo S60 T5 resting on its roof, perpendicular to the roadway. The driver of the vehicle, Alisha Gerber, 34, of 82 Ladder Hill Road North, told police that while driving northbound, she struck a large piece of exposed rock ledge on the eastern side of the road. Once her car struck it, it flipped over and she crawled out. Gerber was transported to Norwalk Hospital for further medical evaluation and was issued a written warning for failure to drive in the proper lane.

One-car accident
On Tuesday, Sept. 25, shortly before 4 p.m., Weston police responded to a call about a one-car accident on Weston Road near Timber Mill Lane. When police arrived on the scene, they found a small sedan had run off the road and collided with a fence at One Pink Cloud Lane. The driver of the vehicle, Ginette Laurent, 44, of Derby, told police she drove off the road when a vehicle in front of her suddenly slowed down and she steered to the right to avoid a car that was heading in the opposite direction. Laurent was transported to Norwalk Hospital for further medical evaluation and was issued a verbal warning for failure to drive in the proper lane.
