David Thomas McGrath, 83, of Mount Pleasant, S.C, (formerly of Weston), husband of Barbara Emerson McGrath, died at home on July 23. He was born June 14, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY to Thomas and Mary McGrath. He and his first wife, Pauline, moved frequently for his job at Hamilton Hallmark Electronics until they settled in Weston in 1978 with their five children. In 1981, when Pauline, died of cancer, the community of Weston and St. Francis of Assisi Church was of great support, according to the family. McGrath’s second marriage was to Patricia Skypeck. Former Weston resident Edward Beach Mack, of Mesa, Ariz., died on Sept. 2. He was 89. Mack, his wife Jean, and their  three daughters lived on Georgetown Road in Weston from 1957 to 1994. Born on June 10, 1927, in Watertown, he was an eighth generation native of the state, and was the only son of the late Harold P. and Ruth Beach Mack Johnson. Fred Hellerman of Weston, a folk singer, guitarist, producer and song writer, has died at the age of 89. Hellerman was primarily known as one of the original members of The Weavers, an influential and wildly popular folk music quartet of the 1950s and 1960s which also featured Pete Seeger, Lee Hays, and Ronnie Gilbert. He was also known for producing the record album Alice’s Restaurant for Arlo Guthrie. A resident of Weston since 1969, Hellerman lived on Goodhill Road where he had a recording studio.
