Attempted ID theft A Huckleberry Road resident contacted Redding police on Jan. 2 after receiving a LifeLock alert that someone had attempted to get a credit review to apply for credit at Chase Bank. Police said the victim did not lose any money. There are no suspects, but police are investigating the attempt. Fire in freezer sets garage ablaze

An alarm alerted emergency responders to a fire Monday, Jan. 8. The Easton Police 911 Center was alerted to an automatic alarm around 5 p.m. Monday. Police arrived to find flames coming from an attached garage at 12 Wells Hill Road, according to Easton Police Sgt. Jonathan Arnold. The fire appeared to have started behind a refrigerator located in the garage, but the cause of the fire is under the investigation of the Easton Fire Marshal’s Office. Easton police officer suffers smoke inhalation after rescuing trapped pit bull

Easton Police officer Don Kinahan rescued a pit bull from a home on Friday, Jan. 5, at approximately 7:30 p.m., according to police reports. The homeowner initially made a 9-1-1 call to the Easton Police Department and reported that his house was on fire and he could not control it, police said. According to police, the Easton Police and Fire Department responded to the active house fire, at 25 Deerfield Drive. Fire departments from Weston, West Redding, Trumbull, Fairfield, Westport and Redding Ridge were also called to the scene, police said. Lost or stolen license plates On Tuesday, Dec. 26, at about 1 p.m., Robert Bridges of Black Rock Turnpike reported that license plates that he had taken off a vehicle and placed on the trunk to return to the motor vehicle department had been either lost or stolen. Six new teachers have joined the Redding Elementary School staff this year. Erica Ambrogio and Michaila Emonds teach first grade, Nicole Eckardt teaches third grade, Leigh Anna Kamin and Jennifer Marandola teach fourth grade, and Sarah Peronace is a media specialist.
